General information for Samadhi retreats in Sri Lanka

Arrival Information

Our chauffeur will meet you at Colombo Airport at the meet and greet point after customs. He will be holding a sign with your names.
Transportation to the retreat will be about 2 hours depending on traffic.
Samadhi staff will meet you at the retreat.

Yoga mats

We have yoga mats for everybody at the retreat. So unless you want to use your own favorite mat, there is no need to bring one.

Normally it is not a problem to get the Sri Lanka visa upon arrival in Colombo airport. I always do that myself. But most people are using the online services to have everything in place before travelling. Please read the following information in this link. You can also find the link for the electronic visa here:

You will be asked to write the address for where you are staying in Sri Lanka in your visa application. Please write:
Sri Devi, Talpe

Local currency

It is easiest to get the local currency (Sri Lanka rupee, LKR) in the ATM at the airport. Ask the driver and he will show you the ATM. I find it nice to have about LKR 20 000 for the first few days. Everything is generally very cheap, so you don’t need large amounts of cash for your stay.
Should you need more cash during your stay our driver in the retreat can take you to an ATM in either Galle or a small village close to the retreat.
AED 100 = LKR 3600
NOK 100 = LKR 1925

What to bring?

Keep it simple!
There is no need to dress up. The general atmosphere is very relaxed and we do not need dresses or high heels in Sri Lanka at all☺
Bring comfortable yoga clothes, sandals, sun-lotion and a sweater for the evenings. There is a hairdryer and towels both for showers and the beach in each villa. There is a mosquito net over every bed, but we do recommend you to bring a good quality mosquito spray from Dubai or Norway.
For vaccinations, we recommend you to contact your private doctor for advice.
We will not be visiting any of the known malaria areas of Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka weather is sub tropical with warm days and nights and occasional showers. Expect temperatures between 20-25 C day and night.

In Sri Lanka the standard voltage is 230 V. The standard frequency is 50 Hz. The power sockets are of same type as Dubai with three pins.
For Norwegian/Scandinavian travellers you should bring a travel adapter.

Roaming is very expensive in Sri Lanka. I recommend you to buy a local sim-card at the airport. They have very good deals including both free minutes and data. There is Wi-Fi at the dining area in the retrat, but it can at times be a bit unstable.

Time difference

Norwegian summertime: 3,5 hours ahead of Sri Lanka. Wintertime: +4,5 hours.
Sri Lanka is 1,5 hour ahead of Dubai.

Buddhist, Muslim, Hindu and Christian.

Sinhala, Tamil and English.

Please let us know if you have any kind of food allergies or special dietary needs.
Pork will not be served at the retreat.

A more detailed program will always be presented when everybody has arrived at the retreat the first day.

The most important thing to bring on our tours is an open mind and a positive attitude. Together we will create magical moments to be remembered for life.
